Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States & Canada

Statement Of Identity
We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.  As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us.
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is one church which shows itself in three ways:
  • Local Church — Hood River Valley Christian Church meets to build up the Body of Christ and show compassion in God's name. Local churches have primary responsibility for teaching, pastoral care, spiritual development,  local missions, calling ministers and property management.
  • Regional Church — The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oregon and Southwest Idaho is a ministry shared by 45 congregations including HRVCC, speaking three languages.  This ministry offers services such as congregational planning, summer camps for children and teenagers, placement and care of pastors and their families, training of leaders, supporting new and emerging congregations, and commissioning individuals for ordination.
  • General Church — The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the US and Canada engage the general ministries of the church.  Some of those include Division of Overseas Ministries/Global Ministries, Higher Education and Leadership Ministries, Christian Church Foundation, National Benevolent Association, Pension Fund and Central Pastoral Office for Hispanic Ministries.  General Assemblies of the General Church are held every two years on odd numbered years.  Offices of the General Church are in Indianapolis, IN.
